If you are anything like me, coffee runs through your blood. It gets you through the day and allows you to function! So I figured, I should be adding this miracle substance into my beauty routine somehow. Let’s use coffee inside AND out for our bodies!
nn
Now I know caffeine keeps me running through the day and allows to me function in the morning but after some research, I found out it’s actually pretty good for my skin too!
n
Caffeine is actually absorbed into your skin a tiny bit and it helps give your skin a little boost! It tightens the skin and helps reduce cellulite. How cool is that? I wanted something that would have an exfoliant property so I decided to use some coffee in an exfoliation scrub.
n
n
This scrub is so easy to make and way cheaper than any store-bought scrub! And the best part? I made it all from things I already had around the house!
n
This scrub is made from used coffee grounds, (What a bonus I get to drink my coffee and scrub with it too!) coconut oil, brown sugar, and white sugar. I added a little sea salt to mine for extra coarseness but it’s not necessary.
nn
The coconut oil is super hydrating and helps give your skin some moisturization after it’s been scrubbed with the coffee and sugar! I use this scrub in the shower and when I get out I don’t have to use any lotion post-shower anymore. It’s fantastic and saves me a step in the morning!
n
I highly recommend storing this coffee scrub in a plastic/glass container with a lid to help it last as long as possible. If you only plan on making enough for one use then disregard this and cut the recipe down to your desired amount.
nn
This recipe is super easy, so if you’ve never made a scrub before, have no fear anyone can do this! You can make as much of this as you want, it stores for a really long time or you can give some away as gifts as I do!

- Let your coffee grounds dry out, either leave them in a sunny spot or you can dry them in the oven if you are in a hurry! (just use the warm setting otherwise you risk burning the grounds)
- Melt down the coconut oil in the microwave or a double boiler
- Mix in the oil with your measured coffee grounds and sugars
- After everything is mixed add in 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oils! (If you just enjoy the scent of coffee feel free to skip this step!)
