For the past few months, I have been slowly trying to transition to a more self-sufficient/sustainable lifestyle. That includes growing most of my own veggies, composting, making my own broths, and building or repurposing most of our furniture. I wanted to expand this into my beauty products, which I knew would be no small feat because we ladies use so many every day!
n
I have done the lotion bars, the soap, some scrubs, whipped body butter (click the links to see those posts!)
n
After getting comfortable with those products I wanted to try something that is necessary and I use every day. Deodorant. So many store-bought deodorants are made with artificial products and chemicals that I just didn’t really feel comfortable rubbing into my skin anymore. Thus began my fall down the endless rabbit hole of Pinterest and google articles on how to make homemade deodorant.
n
I finally found some key ingredients that I knew I would want to use for their beneficial properties, I then tried multiple different ratios until I found a consistency that I liked and it worked!
n
In my deodorant, I used baking soda, coconut oil, bentonite clay (you can substitute corn starch), tea tree, eucalyptus, and lemongrass oil. You can obviously substitute any oils you’d like in this recipe. I chose these 3 for their anti-bacterial/microbial properties, which is important in any area like your armpits where it can get sweaty and warm.
n
This recipe was super easy and worked amazingly for me! My wife and I now prefer this homemade stuff to anything we have tried that’s store-bought! It has worked so much better than any other deodorant I’ve used!
n
I love that it’s homemade and made with all-natural ingredients. I feel so much better about using this product than anything I would buy from the store.
n
I chose to put my deodorant in a small mason jar and use a wooden spoon to apply it, but you could buy deodorant sticks and pour them in that, or even repurpose some old used deodorant sticks to pour this recipe in!

Here are the ingredients and recipes you will need to make this amazing all-natural deodorant.
